Anti-War Protesters Disrupt Freeway Traffic

A small band of anti-war protesters unfurled a banner across four lanes of the San Diego Freeway early Tuesday, disrupting traffic and leading to one arrest, authorities said.

The 6:30 a.m. demonstration on the freeway at the Sunset Boulevard overpass in Los Angeles prompted the California Highway Patrol to halt southbound traffic for about 10 minutes and brought jeers and cheers from motorists. Between 10 and 20 protesters, calling their action “No Business As Usual on the 405 Freeway,” represented a coalition of anti-war groups, spokeswoman Lucy Lee said.

One young man, identified by Lee as a UCLA student, was arrested.
