Countywide : Tet Festivals to Ring In New Year
- Share via
Thousands of people are expected to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year this weekend in Tet festivals in Huntington Beach and Westminster.
This year’s ninth annual festival Saturday and Sunday at Golden West College in Huntington Beach marks the first time that the event will be spread over two days, festival coordinator The-Thuy Nguyen said.
“It’s very much like what was done in (previous) years, just more of everything,” she said.
The festival is sponsored by the Union of the Vietnamese Student Assns. of Southern California. Scheduled attractions include two stages, featuring Vietnamese musicians, dancers and other performers. Display booths will offer art and cultural exhibits, authentic cuisine, traditional games, carnivals and flower arrangements.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Community of Southern California group is sponsoring a Tet festival to be held on a lot behind the 99 Market shopping center at 9191 Bolsa Ave. in Westminster. That festival opens today and runs through Sunday and will feature the traditional dragon dance, Vietnamese art shows, food stalls and game booths.
