Gunfire erupted Friday during a fight between two rival gangs in front of a pizza parlor, but no one was injured, police said.

The incident occurred about 1 p.m. near Buena Park High School in the 2700 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue, police said.

“The information we’ve received is that there was a prearranged gang fight between Baker Street, a Fullerton gang, and East Side Buena Park, a Buena Park gang,” said Fullerton Police Sgt. Mike Maynard.

“When the groups were gathering, several shots were fired from a (passing) vehicle toward the East Side Buena Park gang members,” he said. “When the vehicle passed, the occupants yelled, ‘Baker Street!’ ”

After the gunshots, the gang members scattered and fled, Maynard said.

The two gangs claim territory that is in “close proximity” to one another and “have been having their share of problems lately,” Maynard said.

No arrests were made.
