A 19-year-old Van Nuys gang member was convicted Friday of murder for killing an actor-writer during a drug transaction last August, prosecutors said.

Amado Nunez shot William C. Spensley, 30, to death at about 2 a.m. in the 14700 block of Delano Street with a .45-caliber automatic rifle.

Nunez was also convicted of attempted murder for firing at Spensley’s girlfriend, Ivanka Fernandez, 24, who was bruised when a bullet ricocheted off her, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Shellie Samuels.

Samuels said authorities believe Spensley went to Delano Street to buy cocaine, but was robbed at gunpoint by Nunez.

After the robbery, Spensley drove away, but stopped after driving one block, Samuels said.

After Spensley stopped, Nunez approached him, challenged him, then fired into the car, Samuels said. Nunez is facing a sentence of 30 years to life in prison.
