CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : OAKLAND : Mother of Stillborn Baby Sues Hospital

A Richmond woman whose stillborn infant’s remains were misplaced by Kaiser Permanente Medical Center employees and later found in a bag at a laundry has filed suit against the hospital. Zondria Austin, 23, filed suit in Alameda County Superior Court, claiming that the hospital engaged in unauthorized disposal of human remains, cremated the body without her permission and intentionally inflicted emotional distress. The body of the infant, born May 1, was found May 17.
