There’s Nothing Funny About Lisa Olson Joke
The Lisa Olson story just won’t go away, will it? The ugly anecdote related by Victor Kiam earlier this week was extremely offensive. Equally offensive is that the so-called “joke” has been re-told on every sportscast I’ve seen on television. Your own sports section printed it, in its entirety, in both the Wednesday edition when the story broke and again in the Thursday edition reporting Victor Kiam’s apology.
Does comprehensive journalism require being so specific, or is it another example of the “good ol’ boy” network saying, “the joke is on you, Lisa.”?
