Baker on U.S. Rebuilding Iraq After War
I got a chuckle out of Baker’s offer to the Iraqis to rebuild their country when the war is over. They’ll have to get in line behind the Grenadians, Nicaraguans and Panamanians. It’s also likely we will get a bill from El Salvador, Mozambique and Angola some day, to say nothing about Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. And I almost forgot Chile.
It’s not only expensive trying to get the rest of the world to see the light, but it’s a tough job, too, as anyone can see by observing conditions at home.
But with public opinion overwhelmingly supporting the violence against Iraq, we must relish our global role.
