Levi Sues Clothier: Levi Straus & Co. sued an Anaheim clothier for allegedly producing counterfeit Levi goods. In the federal lawsuit against Xpantek Inc. and its owner, Levi alleges trademark infringement, false and misleading description of products, unfair competition and damage to its business reputation. The legendary jeans maker accused Xpantek of selling goods that “bear spurious marks which are identical with or substantially indistinguishable from the Levi’s (trademark)).” The suit also accused the defendant of representing that its “goods were manufactured with the authority” of Levi. The suit said Levi has suffered “substantial losses of sales” because of the defendant and seeks an injunction to prevent the alleged trademark infringement. The suit also asks that the defendant’s allegedly infringing products be destroyed and seeks documentation of the defendant’s product distribution. (Court Case 91-0812. Filed Feb. 13).
