OXNARD : Company Fined for Waste Oil Dumping

Share

An Oxnard business will be fined more than $2,700 for allowing one of its workers to dump waste oil into a storm drain, a spokesman for the Ventura County district attorney’s office said last week.

Stevelyn Co., a machine shop that fabricates metal parts for aerospace companies, entered a guilty plea Friday and was ordered by Municipal Judge John J. Hunter to pay a fine of $1,690 and $1,011 in restitution to the Department of Environmental Health and the Ventura County Fire Department.

As part of a three-year probation ordered by Hunter, the company will be required to implement a training program for employees on ways to properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
