LAGUNA BEACH : City Workers Won’t Lose Pay If in Gulf
Laguna Beach has joined a growing number of Orange County cities offering supplemental pay to full-time city employees called up to active military duty in the Persian Gulf.
A resolution approved Tuesday evening by the City Council would give employees the difference between their military pay and city salaries for up to six months. This will cost the city $8,862 for the one employee called so far.
In other action, Councilman Robert F. Gentry suggested that the council send a protest letter to the Transportation Corridor Agencies for its planning of last week’s public hearing on the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor.
Gentry and Councilwoman Lida Lenney echoed previous complaints that the hearing room was not large enough and that the hearing was held during the day for the convenience of developers and not when others could attend.
“It’s like the corridor agency is there for the development industry,” Gentry said.
