World IN BRIEF : SOUTH AFRICA : Rightists Face Court on Mandela Witness

An official of the white-supremacist Conservative Party, Andries S. Beyers, and Z. B. du Toit, editor of the party newspaper Patriot, were subpoenaed to testify in a Pretoria court about a report that the government was behind the disappearance of a witness in the kidnaping and assault trial of Winnie Mandela, justice officials said. The purported motive was to safeguard talks with Mandela’s husband, African National Congress leader Nelson Mandela.
