Viacom Inc.: The New York-based entertainment and communications company reported a net loss of $87.4 million in the fourth quarter of 1990, compared to a net loss of $29.1 million the year before, on revenue of $430.5 million, up 12% from 1989. For the year, Viacom lost $89.8 million, contrasted with a profit of $131 million the previous year; annual revenue rose 11% to $1.6 billion. The company, which includes MTV and Showtime in its network divisions, attributed the losses to non-cash expenses and new business start-ups.
