Sharp to Make Laptop Screens in U.S.: The Japanese company said it plans to assemble flat-panel computer screens in Washington state, beginning in December. The announcement came one week after the U.S. Commerce Department made a preliminary ruling that Japanese firms were selling the screens below market price, a practice called dumping. Sharp, which said its decision was not connected with the ruling, announced that it will invest $30 million over two years in its Sharp Flat Display Manufacturing Co. subsidiary, which will employ 250 workers in Camas, Wash.
