Making the Grade in Fitness, Nutrition

Students at Woodworth Elementary School in Inglewood are becoming “Health Champions” through a program that teaches the ABCs of physical fitness and good nutrition.

Classroom instruction started this fall. Earlier this month, professionals from Centinela Hospital Medical Center tested the students’ blood pressure, cholesterol levels and body fat and forwarded the results to parents.

The students also are encouraged to apply what they’ve learned in the school cafeteria, where a new salad bar has been installed.
