Van Nuys Auto Plant to Reopen: General Motors Corp. said it plans to reopen the assembly plant Monday following a four-week shutdown due to sluggish sales. The plant, which employs about 3,200 people, is GM’s sole source for the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. However, GM still plans to halve the plant’s production beginning April 2, which will result in the indefinite layoff of 850 workers.
