Chrysler to Delay Adding Shift: The latest attempt by a major U.S. auto maker at operating an assembly plant on three production shifts a day will be delayed until at least early 1992, Chrysler Corp. says. For more than two years, Chrysler has been trying to squeeze in a third shift at its St. Louis, Mo., minivan assembly plant. Industry analysts cited slow sales of the minivans in the company’s decision to delay the three-shift scheme, which was recently approved by the United Auto Workers union.
