Regarding your coverage of the Lithuanian referendum, it seems that Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev declared this vote illegal and invalidated before knowing its outcome.
What would have been ironic is if the poll showed that Lithuania chose to remain within the “union”.
According to Gorbachev’s decision, this outcome would be illegal, invalidated and unacceptable!
