CS Long Beach Falls at Utah State

Kendall Youngblood scored a career-high 29 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and shot nine for 11 from the free-throw line in the final 1:25 as Utah State defeated Cal State Long Beach, 90-89, in the Big West Conference on Saturday night.

Long Beach was whistled for three technical fouls in the second half, and Youngblood made four of six free-throw opportunities after the technicals. The Aggies made one field goal after getting the ball out of bounds after the technical fouls.

Utah State (11-14, 8-8) ended a three-game losing streak and maintained its hold on third place in the conference.

Bryon Ruffner, Alan Gordon and Rich Jardine each scored 14 points for Utah State and Randy Funk added 12.

Bobby Sears scored 24 points for the 49ers (10-15, 6-10), and Kevin Cutler and Bryon Russell each added 13. Chris Tower scored 11. Cutler also grabbed 14 rebounds for the 49ers.

Long Beach Coach Seth Greenberg was ejected with 3:07 left to play after being called for his second technical foul, and Russell also was called for a technical with 24 seconds left when he pushed Matt Barnes while was inbounding the ball after a 49er basket.
