COLLEGE BASKETBALL WCC ROUNDUP : Loyola Wins Its 10th in a Row

Terrell Lowery scored 32 points Saturday night, leading Loyola Marymount to a 104-95 victory at Santa Clara as the West Coast Conference teams ended regular-season play.

The Lions won their 10th game in a row to finish 16-13 overall and 9-5 in the WCC. They will be seeded second and will meet seventh-seeded San Francisco in the first round of next weekend’s conference tournament at Santa Clara.

Santa Clara (16-12, 7-7) is seeded fifth and will open against St. Mary’s.

Center Richard Petruska added 26 points for the Lions on 10-of-13 shooting. He also had nine rebounds.

Santa Clara was led by center Ron Reis, with 29 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Rhea Taylor had 24 points before fouling out and guard LaCoby Phillips scored 18.

Portland 91, San Francisco 82--Reserve forward Grant Tracy scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Pilots (5-21, 3-11) at Portland.

USF freshman Orlando Smart had 15 assists to set a WCC record for assists in conference play with 129. USF finished the regular season at 11-16, 4-10.

Gonzaga 73, Santa Clara 69--Jarrod Davis scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (14-13, 5-9) at Spokeane, Wash. Eric Bamberger scored 15 points for the Gaels (11-16, 7-7).
