Sandal Maker Files Suit: Boardwalk Imports of Tacoma, Wash., sued Polyplex Plastics of North Hollywood on grounds that it breached a contract to make suitable soles for sandals. The suit says the soles ended up oozing an orange residue that stained carpets and clothing. The Los Angeles Superior Court suit alleges that Boardwalk, also known as Bodwok by Boardwalk Inc., ordered “well over” 10,000 soles for sandals from Polyplex in February, 1990. By May, customers began returning the sandals, complaining about the ooze. Boardwalk, which has suffered “lost goodwill and profits,” seeks $200,000 in damages, the suit said. Polyplex declined comment. (Civil Case No. BC021819. Filed Feb. 20)
