THOUSAND OAKS : Planning Board to Weigh Plaza Project

Share

The Thousand Oaks Planning Commission will consider approving two new buildings for the Westlake Plaza Shopping Center at its meeting tonight.

The buildings, proposed for the east side of Westlake Boulevard between Agoura and Townsgate roads, would be built for retail stores.

The city planning staff recommends approval of a 7,500-square-foot building designed to complement the architecture of other buildings in the plaza. The area near the proposed building site has enough room to accommodate additional parking spaces, a staff report said.

But the planning staff does not recommend approval of a separate 8,000-square-foot building because its proposed location on the west side of the plaza would close off the “open feeling” of the approach to the shopping center from Westlake Boulevard.
