Ex-Titan Howard Is 99th Selection in WLAF Draft
James Howard, a four-year letterman at Cal State Fullerton who capped his college career by serving as the Titans’ co-captain in 1988, was chosen by the New York-New Jersey Knights in the 10th round of Sunday’s World League of American Football draft of defensive backs in Orlando.
The 99th overall selection, Howard is scheduled to report today to the Knights’ training camp at Patrick Air Force Base in Melbourne, Fla. The Knights open play March 24 against the Barcelona Dragons in Spain in a game to be televised by ABC.
Howard, 24, is making his second attempt to earn a job in professional football. He was signed as a free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1989, but released during training camp.
