Voice, Data Transmissions Pact: A group of telecommunications companies has created a standardization agreement to develop a network of voice and data transmissions over telephone lines by late 1992. The network would allow such services as credit authorizations, balance reconciliation, remote tutoring, parent-teacher conferences, library access and X-ray consultations, home shopping, home banking and property tax payments. The Corporation for Open Systems International, a nonprofit organization of users and vendors, announced the agreement that would make Integrated Services Digital Network widely available.
