The Gulf conflict, which has made unprecedented use of high-tech weapons, has become a high-tech activity at home too. Using a number of COMPUTER NETWORKS, people are logging into computer conferences to express opinions, exchange information and even argue. On one network, a participant called American troops “mercenaries”--and got a prompt response from the commanding general of a U.S. infantry division somewhere in Saudi Arabia.
