HomeClub Changing Pricing Policy: Fullerton-based HomeClub, the largest chain of home centers based on the West Coast, said it is abandoning its long-standing membership pricing policy in a bid to lure more customers. The company now allows anyone to shop at its stores. But it also has a membership plan that provides a discount on goods for members. The program, however, leads some consumers to mistakenly believe that they could not shop at HomeClub without a membership. The company, which has 66 stores, this week will start mailing prorated refund checks to its more than 1 million members, who pay $10 to $15 annually for memberships that entitle them to a 5% discount on products.
