AFTERMATH OF WAR : Kuwait: Loyalty Means Business

Share

Out of LOYALTY TO THE AMERICANS, BRITISH AND FRENCH who ousted Iraqi troops from Kuwait, reconstruction contracts will go first to companies in these countries, said Sheik Saud al Nasir al Sabah, Kuwait’s ambassador to the United States. “The policy of lowest price or lowest bidder will not be followed. Our policy is not to forget our friends who stood with us in time of need,” he said. “I’ll do my best to give as much business to the United States as possible.” It is expected to take Kuwait several years and an estimated $60 billion to $100 billion to rebuild after the Aug. 2 invasion by Iraq and the ensuing seven months of occupation and war.
