From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A 10-year-old British boy, impatient with the progress of the Gulf War, sent a plan for a sneak attack to Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf and got a personal thank you from the allied commander. “I was watching the war on TV and I thought: ‘This crisis has gone on for too long. I’ve got to stop it,’ ” said Ben Nicholas of Peterstow in central England. He then sent Schwarzkopf a plan to send allied planes disguised as Iraqi jets in a behind-the-lines attack. Jenny Nicholas, Ben’s mother, told reporters that the general sent back a letter praising Ben as a military genius.
