Junior forward Don MacLean scored 18 points Sunday as UCLA defeated Washington, 73-60, before 10,454 at Pauley Pavilion, avenging an 18-point loss to the Huskies last week at Seattle.

The Bruins, who will play Penn State in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday at Syracuse, N.Y., ended the regular season with a 23-8 record, 11-7 in the Pacific 10 Conference.

Washington was 14-14 and 5-13, last in the Pac-10.

“It’s tough to play your last game of the season against the team that’s last in your league, yet they came out and did what they had to do,” Washington Coach Lynn Nance said of the Bruins, whose 86-68 loss to the Huskies last week was their worst of the season.
