IBM in Partnership With Japanese Firms: IBM Japan Inc. announced that it has joined forces with 11 Japanese computer makers in an attempt to end NEC Corp.’s domination of the Japanese personal computer market. IBM said it will provide the firms, including some of its biggest rivals, with detailed technical information about its personal computers and the current version of its bilingual personal computer disk operating system. The 11 companies are Canon Inc., Fujitsu Ltd., Hitachi Ltd., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Mitsubishi Electric Corp., Oki Electric Industry Co., Ricoh Co., Sanyo Electric Co., Sharp Corp., Sony Corp. and Toshiba Corp.
