General Mills Inc.: The Minneapolis-based consumer foods and restaurant concern reported a 34% jump in third-quarter earnings to $134.1 million, compared to the year-ago period. The figure includes an unusual net gain of $17.3 million from the sale of the O-Cel-O sponge operation and miscellaneous restructuring charges. Sales for the period grew 8% to $1.75 billion. The company cited the continued strength of its consumer foods and restaurants divisions, led by Big G cereals and Betty Crocker products.
