MOORPARK : $1 Million Given for Community Center
Urban West Communities, the developer of 1,500 houses in Moorpark, has donated $1 million toward construction of a community center on a future park site in the southern part of the city.
City officials hope to begin building the 10,000-square-foot center within the next year on 69 acres off Tierra Rejada Road. Once completed, the center would include a gymnasium, meeting rooms and offices, City Manager Steve Kueny said. The city also plans to turn 10 acres of land into a public park.
Urban West donated the 69 acres to the city in the late 1980s in exchange for the right to build the Mountain Meadows subdivision.
