President Bush’s Successful War

Share

I watched President Bush’s speech before Congress (front page, March 7). I must say I found it obscene that so many people were applauding and patting themselves on the back for the tragedy of more than 100,000 people killed in Iraq and the consequence of large-scale ecological disaster from the oil-field fires and oil spills.

I found it embarrassing watching Bush’s disconnection from the words he was speaking; he hardly seemed to grasp the ideas he was conveying. Yes, I know someone else writes his speeches, but am I supposed to see this so blatantly?

As Bush is holding Saddam Hussein accountable for his actions (and this sounds like locking the barn door after the horse has run out), I am holding George Bush accountable for his word to tackle the “other wars” on the domestic front with as much attention and determination as this one.

This war has been a manipulation of the minds and sensibilities of the American people and I, for one, am not clapping.
