Share

A 28-year-old Ventura man was standing in front of a Ventura roofing business where he works when he was hit by a bullet in a drive-by shooting, police said Thursday.

Alex C. Saucedo of Ventura was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he was treated and released after the shooting at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gutierrez Roofing in the 170 block of Kellogg Street, police said. Saucedo was closing the gate to the business when a vehicle passed by and he heard some shouts, Sgt. Bob Anderson said.

Saucedo told police that he then heard a gunshot and a bullet hit him in the calf, Anderson said. The small-caliber bullet, which has not been recovered, passed through the muscle of his leg, police said.

Police have no suspects in the shooting. Saucedo does not appear to have any gang ties, Anderson said, and there is no indication that it is gang-related.
