Rosemead : Vote Recount Confirms Loss
City Council runner-up Joe Vasquez paid $1,138 for a recount last week that established he lost by 50 votes--instead of the 26-vote loss originally tallied in the March 5 election.
The day before the Wednesday recount, winner Margaret Clark, a former planning commissioner, was sworn in to fill the seat vacated by the October death of Councilman Robert DeCocker.
In the recount, Clark captured 857 votes, Vasquez received 807, and the third candidate, DeCocker’s widow, Jean, finished with 647.
