A U.S. military representative will meet early this week with Iraqi officials, who are expected to outline a proposal to move some of their aircraft, according to a Pentagon statement Saturday.

“The U.S. military will consider their request,” the statement said. Last week, some Iraqi fighter jets were spotted flying to and from airfields inside the country.

Iraqi pilots also flew many of the country’s warplanes to Iran during the early days of the Gulf War.
