Chance to Dance: The Dance Theatre of Harlem and the Royal Ballet will join forces on and off the stage, it was announced Friday. Members of the Harlem troupe will make guest appearances in the Royal’s productions of “Agon,” “Giselle” and “The Nutcracker” next season. In addition, the two companies will work together on an educational program aimed at encouraging children from multicultural backgrounds to become dancers. As part of the Chance to Dance program, the professional dancers will audition children in London schools for scholarships and the possibility of trying out for the Royal Ballet. The Royal Ballet is now appearing at the Kennedy Center in Washington; the Dance Theatre of Harlem opens there March 26.
