Producer Alleges “Top Cops” Idea Stolen: Richard Reid Productions sued CBS Entertainment-Hollywood and Grosso-Jacobson Productions Inc., alleging that they stole his idea for the television series “Top Cops.” The Los Angeles Superior Court suit contends that CBS agreed to a contract with Reid in June, 1989, for Reid to develop a series featuring an anthology of true stories of acts of heroism by police officers. It said CBS told Reid in February, 1990, that it was developing its own show that would be completely different. The suit alleges that the show that CBS had Grosso-Jacobson produce is the same show Reid offered. (Case No. BC023497. Filed March 13.)
