The Valley Hilton Hotel in Encino said it has nearly completed a $5-million renovation that includes a remodeled lobby and restaurant, a new exercise room and a new sprinkler system.

The renovations were unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday attended by Los Angeles City Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky.

The work has so far taken about 18 months, spokeswoman Dafna Ronis said.

Other changes include a new marquee in front of the hotel, and new bedspreads, drapes and lighting fixtures in the guest rooms. The hotel also expects to double the size of its parking garage within a few weeks.
