Merc Trader Pleads Guilty, Avoids Retrial: A commodities broker pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and agreed to an eight-month prison sentence, avoiding a retrial on a racketeering conspiracy charge. Under the plea agreement, Chicago Mercantile Exchange trader Robert Mosky waived the right to appeal his conviction last summer on seven counts of violating federal trading rules. Federal prosecutors agreed to drop more than 50 other counts, including racketeering conspiracy and multiple mail and wire fraud counts, on which the jury deadlocked last July, Assistant U.S. Atty. Mark Pollack said.
