AIDS Care, an agency in Ventura County devoted to helping people with AIDS, has hired Reese Welsh as its first executive director.
Until recently, Welsh served as an AIDS educator and counselor at Santa Barbara County Health Care Services. He has lived in Ventura County for five years and has been involved with AIDS Care for most of that time.
Welsh, a former Peace Corps health worker in South America, has worked extensively with Spanish-speaking people in Ventura County.
AIDS Care was formed in 1985 as a nonprofit organization providing free and confidential help. The agency, which gets United Way funding, provides a telephone information line, counseling and companionship, transportation and a food bank.
