Studios, Networks Agree to Private Talks: The Coalition to Preserve the Financial Interest and Syndication Rule, a lobbying group made up of the major Hollywood studios and independent producers, acknowledged that they were willing to reopen negotiations over the issue of allowing the networks to share in TV program rerun profits. The response followed a letter from the networks to the Federal Communications Commission, which had urged that private negotiations resume. It said the networks were willing to talk. But so far no serious talks have occurred, and the FCC is scheduled to vote on the plan April 9.
