The Rams signed cornerback Rodney Thomas, a Plan B free agent left unprotected by the Miami Dolphins. Thomas, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound player from Brigham Young, was with the Dolphins for three seasons.

In 1988, Thomas had 15 tackles and one interception; in 1989, he had 37 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one sack. Thomas, 25, is the third Plan B free agent signed by the Rams, joining former Miami teammate Karl Wilson, a defensive end, and former Houston Oiler kicker Tony Zendejas.
