TWA Unions Urged to Make Concessions: Republican Sens. Jack Danforth of Missouri, Robert J. Dole and Nancy L. Kassebaum of Kansas urged Trans World Airlines’ pilots and machinists unions to make concessions that would entice investor Kirk Kerkorian to bid for the ailing carrier. Reached at his office in Beverly Hills, Kerkorian declined to comment on the senators’ action. But a spokesman for his investment company, Tracinda Corp., said Kerkorian is still interested in TWA. But he said any possible deal requires a total of $137 million in concessions from the unions.
