Marina del Rey : Boat Launch Work Delayed

Share

Recent storms have delayed work on expansion of Marina del Rey’s public boat-launching ramp, and access for boaters who use the facility will be limited, county officials said.

Construction of the $572,200 project will continue into May because the rain and wind has delayed installation of pilings and concrete, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors.

In the meantime, the number of lanes available to launch and retrieve boats will be limited. “The construction company will continue to have at least two lanes operational for launchings and boat recoveries,” Beaches and Harbors Director Ted Reed said. “We ask that fishermen and other boaters display patience when using our facilities.”

When the project is completed, the boat ramp will have additional launching lanes, extended boarding floats, new concrete pilings and abutments. The ramp, which is open around the clock, is used for more than 20,000 boat launchings each year.
