Retract, S’il Vous Plait : French actor Gerard Depardieu’s lawyers demanded Thursday that Time magazine, USA Today and the Washington Post retract stories quoting him as saying he committed rape at age 9. Time responds that it is comfortable with its story, satisfied that Depardieu’s quotes were “neither mistranslated nor misunderstood.” The Washington Post’s lawyers are studying the matter and USA Today had no immediate comment. It’s not clear what will happen if there are no retractions.
