Imperial Hotels Files Chapter 11: The Los Angeles company, which owns and manages 42 hotels and motels nationwide, filed the petition in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles, listing $52 million in assets and $46.2 million in liabilities. A lawyer for Imperial said the firm operates some Quality Inns and Econolodge franchises. Imperial Hotels is owned by the European firm Scotti International.
