Man Killed, Friend Wounded in Shooting
One man was killed and a second wounded when a romantic triangle led to an argument and gunfire at an Eagle Rock street corner last weekend, Los Angeles police said.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant Tuesday for Darryl Caviness, 24, of South-Central Los Angeles, charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder, Detective Ron Whitt said.
He said the shooting occurred at 5 p.m. Saturday at Avenue 49 and York Boulevard shortly after a teen-age girl was visited by two boyfriends who were not acquainted. Each boyfriend was accompanied by a male friend. Police withheld the girl’s name.
Whitt said that an argument erupted and that Caviness drew a handgun and shot Michael Troy Miller, 22, and Timothy Lee Clary, 23, both of South-Central Los Angeles. Miller was hit in the upper torso and pronounced dead at the scene. Clary was treated at County-USC Medical Center and released this week, Whitt said.
Caviness and his friend, Kevin Green, 18, of Van Nuys, fled after the shooting, police said. Whitt said Green is being sought for questioning in the incident.
