A cooling trend will drop temperatures and cloud the weekend weather forecast, according to the National Weather Service in San Diego.

Some clouds will begin moving in today as the high pressure that has kept skies sunny and warm begins to weaken, meteorologist Wilbur Shigehara said.

The high pressure will give way to a storm that is dissipating but will leave in its wake a cold front, coastal clouds and gusty winds in the mountains and deserts over the weekend, Shigehara said.

At the beaches, skies will turn cloudy tonight and Saturday, with temperatures reaching only to the high 60s today and dropping down to 58 to 64 over the weekend, he said.

The surf is rolling in at 3 feet, with an ocean temperature of 59 degrees.

On the coast and in the inland valleys, hazy sunshine today will turn to clouds tonight and Saturday, Shigehara said.

Coastal highs will range from 75 to 80 today, cooling to 67 to 72 over the weekend, Shigehara said. Nighttime lows are expected to range from 52 to 57.

The inland valleys will see highs of 80 to 86 today, cooling to 72 to 76 over the weekend, Shigehara said, with temperatures at night dropping to 47 to 54.

The forecast calls for mountain and desert skies to remain fair today, turning cloudy and cooler over the weekend, with wind gusting up to 25 m.p.h. through Saturday.

Temperatures in the mountains are expected to range from 65 to 72 today, dropping to 60 to 65 over the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will drop to 34 to 44, Shigehara said.
