Solving State’s Water Shortage

Share

With all the announcements of water restrictions being imposed on farmers and citizens alike, doesn’t it seem odd that developers from Ventura to San Diego have been strangely omitted from the water restriction programs? Doesn’t it seem obvious that the drought can only get worse as we tighten up on farmers and families and leave the other end, the development industry, to open the tap wide for more and more home developments and more office and commercial space? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that this industry is the largest contributor to political campaigns in the state! Starting with Donald Bren of the Irvine Co., who is a close confidant to Gov. Pete Wilson, developers run this state and the proof is the way this water crisis has been handled.

One can only wonder what the people of Santa Barbara and Marin counties would be doing now if they had not won a building moratorium. Unfortunately, the people have no voice in this crisis.
