LOVE AND DEATH

Share

To me, Bettelheim’s suicide was not an act of despair or failure, but one of thoughtfulness and courage. He had the wisdom to distinguish the possible from the impossible. It is possible, albeit difficult, to improve the lives of emotionally damaged human beings; it is impossible to cheat death. The best we can do is to choose the time and place of our death, rather than wait fearfully for nature to choose it for us.
